Chiang Mai, Thailand - Polarsteps
I class Chiang Mai as the start of my real trip away! And what a start it was!!
Staying at ‘stamps’ hostel was by far the best choice I could have made - it was a great hostel with a super social vibe and it’s where I met some amazing people!
The hostel itself was good at helping to organise things! I got the chance to go to ELEPHANT LAND which was amazing! We got given great explanations about the history of elephants in Chiang Mai and also how they treated now. Superboy was fab. We walked with the elephants in the jungle and then helped to wash and bathe them.
There is a fab temple at the top of the mountain called Wat Phra That Doi Suthep! It has beautiful views from the top, which are well deserved after a bit of a staircase to climb! We got taken there by a red van! The driver also waited for us to come down.
Slightly further down the mountain we asked to stop at the monks trail. You have to follow the orange flags. Unfortunately we didn’t make it too far into the trail because the driver was waiting for us but would definitely recommend it to others!
There is an amazing night market: night bazaar. This has everything for everyone. It ranges from arts and crafts, to clothes, to food and much more! On a Sunday it’s an extra big market. It was nice enough but at times could almost be a little too crowded...not for everyone!
In terms of nightlife, the hostel was good at taking us out! We had a few stops: 48 garage for nice outdoor drinks, Fat Elvis for some questionable karaoke and the nightclub Spicy for some dancing.
