Crete, Greece - Polarsteps

This was our first flight post-pandemic & it was to see some good friends of ours from the states. It was my first time to Greece and was bummed that we didn't have time for Athens so we schedule a trip right after to make sure I finally got to see it! This trip was partially a working trip, so much more relaxed than our usual vacations but there was still lots of fun to be had & food to be eaten. We flew in the night before from London and spent the night in Athens by the airport before grabbing an early morning flight out the next day. We had a timeshare that we were able to exchange points to stay at a resort on the island which is why we decided to stay longer as the timeshare exchange covered a full week's stay. We planned to rent a car while we were there but after quite the ordeal we realized John's international driver's license had expired so we didn't feel comfortable risking it, so instead we either took taxis or relied on the car our friends had rented instead. The taxi from the airport to our hotel was almost an hour so quite the journey. It was the shoulder season so things were pretty slow especially coupled with barely post-pandemic so it was good to not feel like everything was completely overrun with tourists.
