Rushon, Tajikistan - Polarsteps
After a lot of doubts we decided to ride the bartang valley. A valley of about 300 km, very beautiful but also very remote, only off-road with a lot of river crossings and no petrol. I was calculating all the time of I could make it. Especially since I don't want to get in trouble the last part where there are no villages and only maybe some other tourists now and then. We got different advice from the locals on the way, it's possible/not possible. The road is flooded so there's a detour, my bike starts running very bad and consuming a lot of petrol..... And then we run into a German car with people who say they almost lost the car in the river. Well, we ride up to 70 km's into the valley and then the doubts won. Shit, it really feels cowardish, giving up. Anyway, we turn around and some 20 km before or campsite we run into Steffan and Marvin who just did it and are smiling from ear to ear. This makes it even worse. But we have a good time with them and plan to travel together a bit. In the morning the road is blocked due to a landslide and we be stuck for four days....
