Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand - Polarsteps
Ayutthaya has been the capital of the Siam Kingdom during 400 years, the buildings and ruins left in the centre show how prosper it used to be. At this apogee, Ayutthaya had 1 million inhabitants, and was a super cosmopolite city, open to the world, the most famous example is the venue of the ambassador of Louis XIV.
The city was attacked and razed by the Burmese army in 1767 who destroyed the city and forced the inhabitants to abandon the city.
Beautiful city to visit, and we recommend the boat tour around the centre to have another angle to the city and it's inhabitants.
