Somewhere in Australia, - Polarsteps

Took our first Australian uber to fig tree pocket (actual town name.. So cute) where the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is located. Scored a dope student discount at the ticket booth. Even though it is called he koala sanctuary, they have so much more than that! I am personally not a huge fan of zoos which is what it sorta felt like. Though it's called a sanctuary so I believe the animals are all rescues. I keep meaning to look up the history of the place but I rarely have Internet. They had huge bats, lots of birds, owls, PLATAPUSES (is that the plural version? Or is it platapusi? πŸ€”), dingoes (they look like a big, skinny version of my good friend Steve's dog Soupy 🐢), a wombat (cuteness alert!!!! 🚨🚨🚨), and of course loads of fuzzy lil koala friends 🐨. Things I learned about koalas: they smell like a combo of urine and eucalyptus, they are relatively heavy, they eat and sleep and cuddle all day every day. So basically they live the dream. I held one for approximately 20 seconds for 20 AUD. I would say it was a rip off but honestly I really enjoyed my 20 second cuddle πŸ¨β€οΈπŸ‘©πŸΌ. Next we entered the kangaroo area and to our surprise the kangaroos are not enclosed!!! They are free to roam around all the visitors. You can pet them, feed them, selfie with them. I really wanted to spoon one but the ground was covered in their poop, I only have 2 outfits for my whole trip so it was better not to soil it with roo poo.. πŸ’© The rest of the day consisted of eating an entire bag of spinach, resisting the urge to fight an Aussie guy in the hostel 😑 (seriously... If he was at UVM there would have already been 3 rallies protesting everything that came out of his mouthπŸ˜’) and taking a solid 3 hour nap in air conditioning πŸ’€πŸ’• (rare occurrence). Cooked up some lentil tacos for dinner, which Z and I devoured. Asshole Aussie guy tried to STICK HIS FINGER IN OUR GUACAMOLE!! Seriously tho.. That's a huge no, no. Brisbane is a weird place. Not sure I would recommend staying here very long. Early bus tomorrow up to NOSSA!!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ very excited to ditch the big cities πŸ‘πŸ»
