New Plymouth, New Zealand - Polarsteps
Stratford - Plymouth - White Cliffs Walkway - Lake Mangamahoe
New Zealand, travel day 135
After yesterday's forecast prediction we stayed late in bed and enjoy the camping facilities, kitchen and shower and then headed to the information point to check the weather prediction again.
It seemed it cleared out in the afternoon but not good enough to get close to the mountain, so we decided to hit the coast.
Arriving at New Plymouth we visited the coast walk, and enjoy, by now, one of our preferred lunch, fish and chips.
After that we headed North towards the White Cliffs Walkway, it was perfect, cause you can only do this at low tide and that was about the right time for the sunset light, the weather on the west seems much better than before and finally we could enjoy a wonderful Sunset.
On our way back we also saw Mr Taranaki, like no other, stunning.
At night I wanted to take some stars pictures, it's full moon so not many stars will be seen, but I wanted to find a place where I could see the volcano.
Lake Mangamahoe does the work, so we entered just before they closed its doors, and a few min later we were asked by the rangers if we wanted to leave or stay, well no doubt about that, we are staying for the night, and after a few pictures I'm working on a timelapse.
Hope the weather stays like this and we have a wonderful sunrise at the lake.
