El Calafate, Argentina - Polarsteps
After a 90 km stage on tarmac, mostly descending with a beautiful scenery, we reached El Calafate in the afternoon. On the last kilometres, we met another cyclist on tour for the very first time. Also, we reached the 1000 km mark since we started our trip in Ushuaia! Accordingly, we treated ourselves to a well-deserved rest day and spent two nights with a local kayak guide and cyclist who welcomed us into his home (thanks Ruben!!!). He emphasized how important it was to eat enough on rest days - so we did (including a few happy hour beers). Also, we finally did some touristy stuff and hitched to the famous glacier Perito Moreno (without the bikes).
