Saanich, Canada - Polarsteps
This was a super short cycling day from cow bay to sannich, it was sunny for the most part with a downpour of rain as we left the ferry. Other cyclists from the ferry took cover while we rode off. Although it was short day i was still pretty tired by the end of it, my body is still adjusting to a loaded bicycle. We said goodbye to Gillian and Andy before making our way to remainder of the route we know well from previous trips; we have cycled victoria to gabriola and back on numerous occasions. There is a great network of paved countryside roads that get us off the highway for half of that stretch. We both know it so well at this point we do not need a map to navigate the various turns. There are a few landmarks along this route I always take note of; the cute chicken sign, the lochside pigs and a solo grave I always stop to say hi to (Willy).
