Machin, Canada - Polarsteps

Amazing riding to Vermilion Bay; the road is consistently well-shouldered for this first bit of Ontario, and it winds around lakes and up hills with views down over expanses of forest from the top. The climbing is gentle for this section, and we're so conditioned for it at this point that it feels easy and is actually welcome after the prairies; we're using our full range of gears and shifting around in our seats to accommodate the rise and fall of the road, and it actually means less soreness than pedalling in the same position on flat terrain all day. Vermilion Bay felt like a good, quiet town, and we ended up down at a waterfront park swimming again and waiting for nightfall before setting up our tent in a clearing tucked away at the end of a small spit. -Sara
