Meatu, Tanzania - Polarsteps

We had photos from Arusha-- we really liked it there-- but they were all on Kini's phone, which Kini proceeded to drop down a long-drop composting toilet before they could back-up to the cloud. Thanks and apologies to our hosts, the Rowbergs, for a truly disgusting recovery mission (if you never host WarmShowers guests again, we'll know why). Thanks to Ma at Snake Park (third photo), a long-time institution west of Arusha-- the camping was excellent, even if we couldn't handle feeding hour. The stretch next to Lake Eyasi was long, hot, dry, and extremely remote. We ran out of water (first time ever in all our time cycling; we over-carry a lot). The group of Maasai women who joined us at a water tap, helped us figure it out, and then stayed around to connect through our language barrier were a really unforgettable encounter for us. We wild-camped comfortably and peacefully on the land that night, knowing who our neighbours were.
