Merzouille en arrivant à l'embarcadère, un grand portail fermé, des petits commerces autour, aucune agitation pour un départ censé être dans 45mn... Bizarre... Dimanche ! Les 2 trajets quotidiens sont au repos. Et pourtant un Ougandais avait pris le temps de se renseigner et nous avait dit ok... C'est bien l'Afrique... 😂 Devant la barrière d'accès fermée, et après blablatages, le responsable du coin nous laisse pénétrer dans l'enceinte et dormir au niveau de l'embarcadère, arguant un "toi tu es un bon diplomate"😂. Les chèvres locales nous tiendrons compagnie jusqu'au lendemain. De très bonne heure le lundi, et comme très souvent en Afrique, plus de piétons trimballant de lourds fardeaux que de véhicules ou camions brinquebalants. L'ambiance est tranquille, no stress, pas de bousculade, une queue se forme avec respect des uns des autres. Emprunté par les locaux pour se rendre de l'autre côté (travail, petit commerce, famille), l'un d'eux nous dira "j'ai pas le souvenir d'avoir vu un blanc sur ce bateau " 😳. Il prend peut-être pas le bateau tous les jours mais il est vrai que cela doit pas arriver souvent dans l'année. 1h de traversée, les personnes papotent, dorment allongées sur la moto ou par terre, tranquille... Lien communautaire et commercial, le ferry permet de traverser gratuitement l'immense lac Albert dans une ambiance purement africaine, occasion de se rappeler que nous sommes bien au coeur de ce continent, avec en fond les collines de la RDC, à seulement quelques km (République Démocratique du Congo). ℹ️ Ferry Panyimur - Wanseko : 2 liaisons quotidiennes, sauf dimanche 😉 _______________________________________________ Nomads that we are, we hit the road again, or rather a long track, sometimes not very wide and a little muddy, leading to a ferry. A big closed gate, small shops all around, no hustle and bustle for a departure supposed to be in 45 minutes... Strange... Sunday! The 2 daily trips are at rest. And yet a Ugandan had taken the time to ask around and told us it was OK... This is Africa... 😂 When the access gate was closed, and after a bit of blabbering, the man in charge of the area let us enter the enclosure and sleep at the pier, arguing ‘you're a good diplomat’😂. The local goats keep us company until the next day. Very early on Monday, and as is often the case in Africa, there are more pedestrians carrying heavy loads than rattling vehicles or lorries. The atmosphere is calm, no stress, no jostling, a queue forms with respect for each other. Borrowed by the locals to get to the other side (work, small business, family), one of them will tell us ‘I don't remember seeing a white person on this boat’ 😳. Maybe he doesn't take the boat every day, but it's true that it must not happen often in the year. 1h crossing, people chat, sleep lying on the bike or on the ground, quiet... A community and commercial link, the ferry provides a free crossing of the immense Lake Albert in a purely African atmosphere, a reminder that we are indeed in the heart of this continent, with the hills of the DRC in the background, just a few kilometres away (Democratic Republic of Congo). ℹ️ Ferry Panyimur - Wanseko: 2 crossings daily, except Sundays 😉
