National park los Arrayanes
Los Lagos, Argentina - Polarsteps
After two weeks it's time to say goodbye to Bariloche. A new adventure was waiting for us on the other side of the lake: Villa la Angostura with a national park situated on a peninsula. Although Liselot wasn't feeling well, she pushed herself to the limits (of this peninsula). We went to this peninsula to see the forest of Arrayanes. Arrayanes are a type of evergreen tree, characterized by their red coloured bark, a bit like cinnamon. They are quite common for this region, although not always as dominant present as here. The forest was -right- situated at the end of the peninsula (a 12 km hike one way). And of course these cheap Dutchies refused to pay the extra money for the catamaran back to the coast, so we walked (Liselot dragged herself) those same 12 km back. Fortunately hitchhiking is quite easy and we got a ride all the way to our camping. Time to rest!
