Puc贸n, Chile - Polarsteps

Semana Santa, as Easter is called here, we "celebrated" in Puc贸n!馃帀 A village known for its outdoor, adrenaline-pumped tourism as well as 'muy tranquilo' activities. We voted for both. 鉁岋笍 However, we postpone our primary plan to climb the vulcano. Right now the vulcano is active 馃寢(if you read this, we survived!) and a climb on the vulcano means you have to stop half a kilometer below the crater. We asked the office why we would do such a trekking anyway, the answer 'because of the views on the village' made us decide not to go. Call us spoiled, but we have probably seen better views...馃槄馃き (Sledding after the climb is another reason to go 馃浄, but due to the lack of snow such fun would only last for several minutes) The same office also offered a canyoning tour, which we joined the next day! It started at a small stream, where we thought: "Is this it?" Following the stream it started with abseiling the first waterfall - and two more followed, all of considerable height. It was quite scary and super exciting. For the rest, it was not like sliding through a wild-water river, but it was a wonderful 'wade' through the stream in a small and high canyon! Cool stuff! 馃挦 On Easter day we stayed home: our shoes needed a day of rest, still totally wet from the day before馃挦. And Liselot needed some rest too, not feeling well. Fortunately, we got wifi+series ;) The last day in Puc贸n we had another activity on the program, the not-to-be-missed visit to the thermas geom茅trica. Because of all the volcanic activity there are lots of hot spring 鈾笍 in the area. This is the most scenic one. A series of boardwalks leads into a canyon and continue for 500 meters until a (unfortunately) cold waterfall. The boardwalks are surrounded by eighteen baths with different temperatures, varying between 33-45掳C. It served as a good destination to relax, before we hopped into our next night bus to Valpara铆so! 馃殟
