Uyuni-tour day #1
Sur Lipez, Bolivia - Polarsteps
WE ARE IN BOLIVIA! 🇧🇴
However, the first three days did not feel as being in a new country. Apart from the guide, we were only surrounded by (MANY) tourists, only traveling through natural areas.
So what did we do? We took the famous Uyuni-tour. This is a three days, two nights tour that took us from Chile through the amazing landscapes of the Bolivian Altiplano to Uyuni. The highest point was just a little bit below 5000 meter!
Day 1️⃣
We could have slept an hour longer, but the delayed shuttlebus eventually brought us to the border. After saying goodbye to Chile, we changed transport to the 4x4. Now we were in the safe hands of our guide Richard 💕.
The first day we stopped at some pristine mountain lakes. Although they look pretty, you definitely not want to dive in. Not only because of the temperature, but rather because of the heavy, poisonous metals like arsenicum. ☠️
Luckily, the next stop was something we could dive into! Namely, hot springs! ♨️ (Aka infinity pool😎) After the cold and windy morning it was a welcome stop, not as pristine as the mountain lake though. It was more of a pool full with western tourists enjoying a quick (we only got 20 minutes) 38 °C bath. 👙🩳
After lunch, we continued driving and visited another highly toxic place☣️. It was advised to try not to inhale the steam of the geysers we visited. This was the highest location we visited and we were all happy to descent a little again afterwards! 🤯
The last stop was at another gorgeous lake. Especially attractive because of all the flamingo's 🦩
Because of the delay, it was after dusk that we finally arrived in our hostel. Happy with the thick, well-needed blankets, we felt asleep quickly after our meal! 🐼
