Galapagos cruise day #3 - Isabella
Isabela, Ecuador - Polarsteps
On the third day of the cruise stood this beautiful hike to the volcano on the schedule.🥾The hike leads to a mirador where you can look inside the crater of this sleeping volcano. Well... Let's mention that there is lots of humidity in the highlands and on this day it rained a lot. Resulting in 0.0 views. What luck. The only result of this day, is that we successfully spotted the vermillion flycatcher, one of the only two endemic birds with a red colour. New species unlocked🔓.
After lunch on board, we stepped on land again to visit a tortoise sanctuary where they breed a specific species of tortoise that were rescued after a volcanic eruption. 💡 Fun fact: the gender of this creature, depends on the temperature surrounding the eggs. When it is slightly warmer, it will be female! Thereafter, we explored some wet lands and at the best hour of the day: "happy hour", we sat down on the beach for a delicious cocktail! 🍹🥥
