Galapagos cruise #4
Parroquia Tomás de Berlanga (Santo Tomás), Ecuador - Polarsteps
After another rocky night navigating all the way around the south corner of the island, we woke up to the beautiful lava landscape of western Isabella this morning 🌅. During the landing, we encountered several types of lava (all of course with Hawaiian names); the more ropy pahoehoe lava and aoao lava, which as the name suggests, is rather sharp and painful. We again saw beautiful fish, playful sea lions and majestic sea turtles during our snorkeling. However, the visibility wasn't that good today (we get spoiled) so no nice pictures of this session. This was also our first encounter with the super cute Galapagos Penguins! 💡The northern-most pinguïn species! 🐧
In the afternoon we went kayaking in a mangrove🛶. It was a magical place, where we could explore all kinds of coves and secret hideouts. We found a penguin on the rocks and could almost get into touching distance. It is incredible how relaxed the animals are around humans! After another delicious dinner, it was time for an early night. More exploring awaits us tomorrow! 🤠
