Antarctica, Antarctica - Polarsteps

Little anniversary here: today is our 100th day of traveling! 💯 At the end of the day we called it the most beautiful day of our life. Therefore, also the best day of our trip! A day to remember and treasure for ever! ❤️‍🔥 Beginning with dawn, today was not a day to ignore our sunrise alarm. Together with our World Explorer family we shared this magical moment in the observatory. The skies turned beautiful colours and we saw lots of whales, birds and seals. 😍 When it was our time to board the Zodiac we told Jimmy the guide that our only request is to see some whales from nearby. And oh he did not disappoint us! The area of Neko Harbour is full of icebergs and that's the place where Minke Whales (we call them winky whales😉) love to hide. This is a really cool species of whale which somewhat resembles a spaceship. Some were coming really close and apparently the people on the nearby Zodiac needed a shower🚿. After the Zodiac ride we were dropped on land, our first continental landing!!🇦🇶 We proudly posed with the flag and went uphill for even greater views of the surrounding area: ice! 🏔️ And again more pinguïns! Still doesn't bore us :) For the afternoon trip we don't have the words to describe how amazing it was. We anchored in Paradise Harbour to explore this piece of paradise by zodiac. Due to being in different Zodiac's group we never had a ride all together, but today we managed to get a special zodiac for all of us (except Robert who explores the area by kayak). Already excited that we really managed to go together, we waited in the mudroom when Jean said "I'm going to find you a nice guide". That was answered by many cheers. We got on board with Vladimir, the badass Russian. Jean jokingly mentioned that we might need an extra jerrycan of gas. Well.. Vlad really went for it. Not even out of the direction of the bridge he asked to unscrew the antannea, 'for better views'. And GAS! We flew over the water on the hunt for more whales🧐🐳. We already spotted some from the decks, so we were hopeful! And after a beautiful sighting of a sleepy leopard seal (when it yawns, you really notice how huge it's mouth is. And it's teeth!) it was Frank who yelled 'whale'. It was an humpback! Vladimir brought us really close and we enjoyed every moment of it! The hole trip we were giggling enjoying the precious moments. With beaming faces we came back on board, still giggling of this best trip!
