There we are, 5 a.m., still dark and sleepy 😴. But happy that due to the delay we only have several hours until sunrise.⏰ We decided to stay near the ferry-dock instead of pitching our tent, together with our Swiss ferry friends! 🇨🇭
After several freezing hours, and beautiful starry skies, dawn broke. This made it possible to discover the magical, boardwalk village. There is no motorized traffic and literally all paths are wooden pathways. A heaven for Liselot, who adores boardwalks. 🛤️
We discovered that the bus onward to Cochrane only left at 16:00, which gave us plenty of time to explore the village and it's surroundings. We headed off to the mountains behind the village, to see the boardwalks from above. The first part of the path was well maintained, with wooden gazebos and beautiful trails. Afterwards, it quickly turned into a fun swampy mess (on a mountain?!), which forced us to jump from rock to rock, grass to moss and fallen tree to fallen tree. It was great fun!
Back in the village, Liselot picked up a cat, which in turn decided to not ever again let her go and within seconds found it so comfy on Liselot her back that the cat started washing itself! 😻🙀
After a good while, we got back to the plaza right on time to catch our bus onward to Cochrane.
