Roadtrip stop #3: Elqui valley
Paihuano, Chile - Polarsteps
Stop 3️⃣ The Elqui valley
After two days in a village, we feel it's time to explore the countryside again! 🏞️Moving on to the Elqui valley. The main focus is on the settlement Pisco Elqui. It was named after Pisco only recently, because the president wants to have exclusive rights on the national drink, bypassing the Peruvians who also claim it's their national drink. 🥃
This area, especially the village, is attracting more and more tourists. A reason for us to find a campsite a bit away from this buzz.
We again found a perfect place to relax the upcoming days. Again we had an intimate spot including hammock, bbq to be used, a boulder wall and even a swimming pool. The latter was only used by Frank for two seconds, because it was muy frrriooo. 🥶
And only the best is yet to mention... We had three really sweet cats😻. In the morning the oldest cat tapped on our tent, just to crawl in for a little nap. The other two are little rebels. It turns out that not the Patagonian winds are the biggest enemy of our tent... Oh sorry parents, we also decided that we wait a little longer to have kids...
The last full day of our roadtrip we used to visit a stupa (!). Yes, a stupa. Suddenly it felt like we entered the Himalayas. After saying our prayers we went back to cuddle with the cats and eat some... Bbq again! 🥳
