Bogotá, Colombia - Polarsteps

Llegamos en Colombia! 🇨🇴 Since we arrived in Bogotá, why not spend a few days in the capital? We heard mixed stories about this city and even some people that don't recommend going here. But we actually liked our days of exploring. Although we only spent our time in the historical centre of Candelaria. Time for our favourite activities: drinking and eating! 🍻 We consumed several cups of coffee, spent the whole evening in a lovely Irish pub and participated in a food tour! The latter was something totally new for us, normally we prefer to explore on our own. But we wanted to learn about Colombian cuisine and Julie did a good job on her tour! We learned that the Colombians love cheese, but she admitted that the Europeans are doing better in this. 💡Here they only have four types of cheese🧀: very salty, medium salty, a bit salty and not salty. They like to put it in everything and mainly deep fry it. But what's more, these people here mix it with hot chocolate???! Dip it in your drink, drink it and enjoy the melted cheese??? Next to the food culture, we emerged ourselves in the material culture of gold!🪙🏆⚜️🥇 The museo del oro (gold) got good reviews. It definitely was well made but walking there we more and more were in doubt what we were doing there. We don't even like gold? What do you say, around the corner there is even more of this shiny metal?! Time for more coffee ☕😁! And another museum-break: the Botero museum. He is the most famous artist of Colombia and still alive! He wants art to be accessible for everyone. That's why he donated a lot of his personal collection (Dali!) and own work to musea, but under one condition: no entrance fee (that's what we Dutchies like!). Cool art, where he experimented with shapes and body forms. According to his explanation, the people in his work aren't fat. It's just the opposite of abstract art. 🎨 Oh, why do these people sell water in plastic bags? 🤔🤔
