Minca, Colombia - Polarsteps

Another location, another adventure? Nah, not for us... We were in for some much needed rest and found quiet and peace in the mountains and jungle surrounding Minca. 🌳🌿🏵️ First one thing which pictures don't tell. And we will certainly forget about in the shivering cold of the European continent; the HEAT! 🌡️ The hot spell that haunts the Caribbean beaches. It's always there and even the aircon has a hard time cooling it down. During the day you are sweating from all pores in your body and even at night it doesn't cool down, since the surrounding sea water stays at 26°C!! 🥵🥵 And so we fled. But to what a spot. We directly extended our stay and stayed for 7 nights in one of the most beautiful venues of our trip. It got a backyard as big as... Well we don't know but it certainly was big! It took us an hour to get to a holy waterfall at one of the edges of the lodge. Our room came with a hammock, but we found an even better place an at the look-out. It had a hanging net which served as the perfect setting for sunset, when the sun drops in the ocean🌅. Yes the ocean is visible from here! 💡Funfact, around Minca lie the highest mountains adjacent to an ocean. Last but not least, it's a good spot for birdwatching with spotting a tucán as our ultimate highlight. 🦜🦚🦅 The days were filled with hiking to waterfalls, learning more about coffee at the oldest coffee farm and enjoying chocolate at a chocolate tour. (Check the pictures for growing (fun)facts of cacao! 🍫) Different trails brought us to the village of Minca. No way that we wanted to walk the way back up. So a fun and thrilling ride on one of the Moto Minc's, brought us back to our paradise!
