For thousands of years farmers and members of religious sects lived in homes carved into the rock. First caves were inhabited for 11000 years. Then in early AD Christians fleeing Roman persecution carved homes and small towns into the rock. Even churches fully decorated were carved into these conical rock formations. A fairy land of exotic natural stone shapes spreads everywhere in sand colored valleys.
